REASON FOR LOSS:

Took off from near Calais at 12.30 hrs. on bomber escort. On the return journey, while flying at 17,000 ft. over London, the formation was attacked by Spitfires and hit in the radiator, the pilot tried to reach the coast but had to force land. The starboard side of the engine cowling was burnt out to the level of the spark plugs.

Markings: 13 in red. Cowling yellow, with "Rocho" written on one side in red. Airframe made by Weiner Neustadter F.W. in 1939. Engine: DB 601, made by Daimler Benz, Genshagen, no. 60977. Armament: two MG 17 and two 20 mm cannon. Approximately 2,000 rounds of 7.9 mm ammunition still in the aircraft. Armour; cross bulkhead in fuselage, with head protection and curved shield.
